From the Desk of Dollie

my lamp shade shown as plain white before and after is decorated with a mosaic of floral and butterfly stickers in a rainbow of colors. I also added plastic clear bead dangles.
My desk lamp before and after! Love the dangles <3

I've been in a bit of a slump lately (haven't we all) so I've been arranging my little world to better accommodate my sparkle-soaked brain. I redecorated the lamp on my desk by taking the plain white shade and adding a collage of floral stickers placed just-so, and it did wonders for the atmosphere in here!

My desk from the early 2000s in my teen bedroom. The desk is an old painted white piece with a lit lamp, a beatles record and some books on top, a red guitar leaning against it and a hot pink mod chair. It's in front of a window with white blinds and different small ballet posters surround the desk on the apple green walls. There is a combo whiteboard/cork board behind the lamp.
Early 2000s Time Warp! Some things never change, do they.

Next, I got a combo whiteboard/cork board just like i used to have on my work desk in the very early days of this website. Check out the first version of my work desk...can you believe I still have the same amazing mid-century space aged pink plastic chair from PB Teen!? It took me years to retrieve it from my folks' house. I kept forgetting to grab it every time I visited. But she's finally home and my hippie heart is soothed. Even back then, I was ripping down closet doors to make more space in my bedroom. Wait till you see what I've done with my current room...in another dedicated post, I promise.

A closet desk with the same hot pink chair from my old room, a lit lamp in the same corner, the combo board behind it, and lots of different craft supplies laid out. Some jewelry I've been working on is displayed on the left wall and on the right wall a cherries neon light is lit. Above the combo board is a banner i designed in 60s style that says Dollierocker Home Office
My current desk...in the closet! ;D

I admit that my favorite little thing I've done is the banner I made to go above the desk. Finally things feel a little more official around here! It's been such a slow crawl and I'm still building up to my collection, but small steps like these are necessary.I even arranged my desktop by making a screen-sized graphic in photoshop with different sections for my folders.

my desktop graphic with sections for business files, current projects, and photos. It's very late 90s into early 2000s graphic design style.
How fun is this?! I no longer dread opening my computer to do work on here!

It's screaming y2k and I just love that for me. I feel so silly for letting the files on my computer be so chaotic for so long, and I always used to make my own desktop wallpapers but stopped after switching from Windows to Mac (which was a long ass time ago let me tell you!) so this feels...not only more organized, but deeply nostalgic. And you all know I'm fueled by nostalgia! It calms my wonky nervous system down in a way that I haven't been able to replicate through other practices. I consider it like meditation. Getting in touch with my inner pre-teen and all her hopes and dreams is not a frivolous practice: it's healing!

A vibrant desktop with folders labeled Business Files, Active Projects, Photos. Neon cherry lights, rainbow lamp, and Dolly rocker poster adorn the colorful home office.
Tidy Desk and Tidy Desktop

So, from my desk, this is Dollie signing off ;)
